October 29, 2021

Oversized sweatshirts are a staple in my wardrobe. The cool, crisp fall weather is the perfect excuse to wear them on repeat. Graphic tee's and sweatshirts have become super popular and can add an effortless, edgy vibe to your outfit. I love to style mine with leggings and platform converse or jeans and combat boots. I have hunted down some of the coolest and most comfortable graphic sweatshirts for you to add to your fall wardrobe!

Most Used Baby Items: Months 2 & 3

October 8, 2021

My baby is three months old. I don't even want to talk about it. Like how is he already so big!? Time is a thief. At the same time watching him learn and grow is the absolute coolest thing. Honestly not too much has changed since I published my Most Used Baby Items: Month 1. In fact we still use everything I listed, but we have added a few things that I wanted to share!

1. Owlet Sock - I am listing this first because WOW I cannot even fathom how I left this off the list in month 1. This might be the most important baby item that we purchased. I am not kidding when I tell you it gives Alec and I such peace of mind. It might have been the only reason we slept those first few weeks. I love technology.

2. Dagne Dover Indi Diaper Bag - I really struggled to choose a diaper bag. I wanted neutral, but not girly since I had a boy, simple but not ugly, good quality, spacious, easy to clean, and of course something the hubs wouldn't mind carrying. This beautiful bag checks all the boxes. I have it in the light blue color that I don't think is available anymore but the heather grey and storm (navy) color are so pretty too.

3. BabyBjorn Bouncer Bliss - A true life saver. This is what Noah spends a huge portion of his day in. It's so comfortable, easy to move from room to room, I even bring it to work with me when he comes. He is always so content in it and even takes naps in it! We love this thing so much we are thinking we will buy a second one!

4. Transitional Sleep Sacks - Over the last week Noah has began rolling over so we have started putting him in sleep sacks that allow his arms to be free, but still swaddle his mid-section tight. The two we love are the Love To Dream Swaddle Up Transition Bag and the Halo Sleepsack 3-way adjustable wearable blanket.

5. Electric Nail File - If you haven't experienced it yet let me be the first to tell you, trimming your baby's nails is a tedious, time consuming, scary task. This nail file makes it so much quicker and easier, and takes out the chance of snipping their little fingers. It works fast, but is so gentle it does not hurt them at all!

6. Sweet Jojo Designs Playmat - With us having two dogs, it was super important to me that we had spaces and items that protect him from the hair all over the floor for as long as possible. This mat is super cute, easy to wash, and gives him a nice clean space to play.

7. Car Seat Toys - Our boy is a pretty chill baby who does not cry much at all *knocks on wood*. BUT he has developed a true hatred for his car seat. Thankfully, he can be easily distracted and as long as he has his toys hanging from the bar, he stays pretty content in his car seat!

8. HelloBaby Monitor - Even though we have the Owlet we wanted a monitor that displayed on a separate screen, rather than our phones, and we love this one!

I know so much is going to start changing in the next few months as he grows and learns even more. I will continue to share our favorite products month by month. What are some products you loved for your 2 and 3 month old baby?

Fall 2021 TBR

September 2, 2021

Truly, one of my favorite fall activities is curling up outside or by a window with a hot drink and a good book. It's the perfect time to get invested in a good psychological thriller, not that I read much of anything else the rest of the year. Now that life has (semi) calmed down (moved into the new house and Noah is starting to get on a more consistent schedule) I am so excited to start knocking out my fall to-be-read list!

56 Days by Catherine Ryan Howard - A suspenseful psychological thriller based in the midst of the covid lockdown

The Family Plot by Megan Collins - A modern-day, twisty, gothic suspense novel that you can read in one sitting

Where I Left Her by Amber Garza - "A high-tension domestic drama where nothing is as it seems" -J.T Ellison

The Golden Cage by Camilla Lackberg - A sexy, dark, and scandalous thriller

Lock Every Door by Riley Sager - Paranoia mixed with gothic suspense

Survive the Night by Riley Sager - A binge-worthy thriller set in the '90s with a killer twist

Catherine House by Elisabeth Thomas - A dark thriller in a unique setting

The Secrets of Us by Lucinda Berry - An addictive, fast-paced, disturbing read

Wonderland by Jennifer Hillier - A complex, creepy, heart-pounding, page-turning thriller

I Let You Go by Clare Mackintosh - My favorite bookstagramer said this book had the most mind-blowing plot twist she has ever read which makes me super excited to read it!

I am going to have a hard time deciding which book to dive into first! Which one are you going to pick up?

Most Used Baby Items: Month 1

August 3, 2021

I cannot believe Noah is already a month old! He has grown and changed so much already and my mama heart just can't handle it.

Making our registry I felt so lost, even with all the research I did there was no telling what our babe would like and dislike. The "love to dream" swaddle for example (the wingsuit-looking thing pictured above lol) was something I saw and thought "what are the odds my baby will need that weird-looking swaddle?". Well, then I birthed a baby who can and will wiggle out of any traditional swaddle to have his hands up by his head. SO guess who ordered a baby wingsuit in every size? This mom.

So below I have compiled a list of the items (in no particular order) that we have used the most in his first month of life + why we love them.

1. Baby Carriers - okay I might have lied about "no particular order" because this child loves to be held and loves to be moving, so baby carriers have been our saving grace. Per usual I could not decide which one I wanted so I have three (over the top, I know) but I am super glad I was able to test a few out and see which one I liked best. I have the Boba Wrap, the Boppy ComfyFit Hybrid, and the Babybjorn Mini. I plan to write a whole blog comparing the three!

2. 4moms mamaRoo - This was gifted to us off of our registry and it is one of the only places he will sleep during the day if not in our arms or a carrier! It is definitely a splurge item but 100% worth it if your babe likes to be moving.

3. Knotted Gowns - As silly as it sounds I wasn't planning to buy any of these once I discovered we were having a boy. But they are a true lifesaver for those middle-of-the-night diaper changes. The ones from Lou Lou and Company are my favorite because they are buttery soft and such great quality!

4. Gripe Water - Poor Noah always has a bubbly tummy and hiccups so sometimes this is the only thing that can soothe him!

5. Snuggle Me Organic - This lounger is super helpful for when he does let us put him down. Sleeping or awake we can easily move this with us from room to room throughout the day and have a safe space to set him down while we are doing other things. + the cover because dog hair!

6. Love to Dream Swaddle - I talked about this earlier in the post, Noah loves to sleep with his hands up by his face/head so this is the only swaddle we use right now!

7. AngelCare Baby Bath - Baby boy loves baths so we give him one almost every night just to help him settle down for bed.

8. Vava Night Light - The cutest and most convenient night light to ever exist. We used it in the hospital and now I keep it on my nightstand. You can control the whole thing just by the touch of your hand + it can be wireless.

9. Baby Bum Brush - Just trust me on this one, it makes diaper changes, cleaner and quicker!

10. Muslin Burp Cloths - These decorate every space in our house lately! They are so lightweight and soft. By far our favorite burp cloths.

11. Aden + Anais Swaddle Blankets - We use these swaddle blankets more as a traditional blanket because they're soft and lightweight which is perfect for the weather right now! I have also used them as a nursing cover and they work great because it covers me and baby but it doesn't get too hot underneath.

Mamas, are there any items on this list that you love too?

What I Packed In My Hospital Bag

June 18, 2021

On Sunday I will be 37 weeks, meaning Baby Boy could theoretically come any day now! So I thought it was about time I packed up our hospital bag so that we are as prepared as possible whenever he decides to make his arrival. I have added to and taken things off my list of things to pack since I was about 12 weeks pregnant, but I think I have finally gotten it narrowed down to the necessities and a few "just in case" items. (+ a few "because I want to" items hehe)

for Mom & Dad

1. Two pair of nursing-friendly pajamas - my favorite from Amazon, they're so soft!

2. Nursing Bra - I love this one because it is sports bra style, so no clasp in the back

3. Supportive & Comfortable underwear

4. Going home outfit - this old navy t-shirt dress is perfect to slip into and still feel put together as I leave + it will be perfect in this heat!

5. Slides

6. A change of clothes for hubs

7. Basic cotton sports bra - I plan on having a water birth as long as everything goes well, so this is what I will wear for that

8. Lightweight Robe

Postpartum Care

1. Frida Mom Instant Ice Maxi Pads

2. Earth Mama Organics Nipple Butter

3. Frida Mom Peri Bottle

4. Earth Mama Organics Herbal Perineal Spray

5. Medela Disposable Nursing Pads

6. Disposable Underwear

7. Maxi Pads

for Baby

I may have overpacked on some things for him but I don't know what he will be comfortable in considering the heat (& no a/c in Germany) so I would rather be safe than sorry.

1. Bibs pacifiers

2. Gown & Hat - one of my favorite brands from Amazon

3. Lightweight swaddle blankets

4. Hush Portable Sound Machine

5. Mittens

6. Going Home Outfit - the one I packed I can't like so I linked a similar one

7. Footie Pajamas

8. Basic Onesies

9. Name Blanket

Miscellaneous

1. Mini fan - this is actually a portable fan I bought for baby for on the go but I figured considering the circumstances it will come in handy in the hospital

2. Vava Baby Night Light

3. Snacks - clif bars, fruit snacks, boom chicka pop, and goldfish to be exact

4. 10ft phone chargers

5. Boppy Pillow

6. Disposable Masks (covid, amiright?)

5. Hair Brush

6. Hair Ties

7. Deoderant

8. Chapstick

9. Skincare

10. Body Wash

12. Vitamins

I packed everything in my Vera Bradley Grand Weekender, I have had this for years and it is the best bag! And I used packing cubes to keep everything organized inside.

There is a good chance I over-packed but I would rather be safe than sorry. I curated this list by watching lots of youtube videos and reading blog posts similar to this one and used my best judgment based on my preferences. I will be sure to update you all on what I actually used and if there was anything I was missing. I can't believe this is right around the corner!!

Maternity Photo Gallery

June 12, 2021

I cannot believe I am now 36 weeks pregnant! We are only 4 weeks (or less) away from meeting our son. That is so mind-blowing to me!! I am so glad I had the opportunity to document this sweet (while uncomfortable) time carrying my firstborn baby. I was 32 weeks pregnant when we took the photos. I am so happy I got to work with the incredible Madi Richardson. I will link her website here for any Spangdahlem friends. She is so amazing at what she does. I will cherish these photos forever 💜
