When you become pregnant, so many things change. Everything you put in or on your body now affects another little life. This sometimes means that your skincare routine might need some "pregnancy-safe" updates.
When doing my research on skincare I came across an extensive list of ingredients people said I "should not" put on my skin. After talking to my doctor, I decided my main focus would be on excluding retinoids and salicylic and glycolic acids from my routine.
Thankfully this meant that my routine wouldn't change too much from what I was doing before I was pregnant. I simply swapped out a few items. Specifically my toner and acne spot treatments, and I stopped using any anti-aging products altogether.
This routine is great if you don't know what to do for your pregnancy skincare routine, and of course, it is still a great routine even if you're not pregnant!
AM Routine
Step 1: Cleanse - bioClarity Cleanse
Step 2: Tone - Philosophy Clear Days Ahead Mattifying Clay Toner (this is one of the new items I added to my routine in place of other toners, as it is pregnancy safe)
Step 3: Serum - bioClarity Restore
Step 4: Ice Roll - I keep my EcoTools Amethyst Roller in the fridge
Step 5: Moisturize - Philosophy Renewed Hope In a Jar + SPF 30
Step 6: Eye Balm - Tula Glow and Get it Cooling & Brightening Eye Balm
PM Routine
Step 2: Double Cleanse - Dermalogica Special Cleansing Gel
Step 3: Tone - Philosophy Clear Days Ahead Mattifying Clay Toner
Step 4: Spot Treat - Mario Badescu Buffering Lotion
Spot Treat was a super important step for me to replace with a pregnancy-safe option because my pregnancy acne is the worst I have ever had. The buffering lotion was life-saving in addition to my philosophy toner.
1-2x / week
I use this Cup O' Coffee mask from Lush on my belly twice a week in the bath. I apply a generous layer and let it sit for ten minutes and then gently exfoliate for two minutes.
